This is interesting. I have no idea who it is (blind items are sooo frustrating!) but most of the commenters seem to think it's Katie Cassidy.

Quote :
Blind item: Dying show buries actress' future
by Michael Ausiello

You’re gonna like this: I’m leaving it up to you to decide whether this blind item is a case of denial or spite. What’s the story? An up-and-coming actress on a doomed hour drama was the top choice to headline a much-buzzed-about pilot — you know, the sort that could’ve turned her from a “soon-to-be” to an “is.” The series’ big-shot producer wanted her. The network wanted her. Everyone wanted her.

But… well, you knew there’d be a “but.” Even though it would take a miracle of biblical proportions to save her current show, its suits refused to release her from her contract. “We could be back next season,” they insisted. Uh, yeah, so could my humility.

As a result, the almost-leading lady got screwed. Who is she, and what going-going-gone drama’s producers were so deluded, or so nasty, that they wouldn’t give her the all clear? Sound off below.
Oh, and while we’re in blind item territory, I should tell you that I’m about to do something I rarely do: give you a major clue about an old blind item. This one, to be exact. But there’s a twist: The clue will be revealed via twitter at some point in the next 24 hours, so best start following me via @ewausiellofiles if you want to know the best-kept secret in Hollywood.

Me too! Usually I avoid blind items as they're just too frustrating but this one caught my eye for some reason. I'd love to know who it is.

Can the comment in the end be the confirmation it was Katie on this blind item?

From E!Online:

Will the CW Renew Melrose Place or Life Unexpected? Network Boss Dawn Ostroff Tips Us Off

After the CW issued five early series renewals a couple weeks back, fans were left wondering about the shows left hanging, including Life Unexpected, Smallville, One Tree Hill and Melrose Place. Well, we just caught up with the woman in charge of the littlest network, CW President Dawn Ostroff, and she hinted that one of those shows is looking pretty hot and one of them is...not.

So which is which? Here's what we learned exclusively from the woman who makes the renew-cancel calls for the See-Dub:

We caught up with Ostroff at the CW's Welcome to Reality event at the Simyone Lounge in New York City, and asked her first and foremost about our new fave, Life Unexpected. The show wasn't among the lucky few to get early renewal, but is it still in the running for a pickup in May at the upfronts?

Ostroff tells us, "Creatively, Life Unexpected is in a great place, and it's doing well. It had a really good night last night, and we've been airing it twice a week, and we get as many viewers sometimes on the second run as we do on the first run—it's not duplicated viewers, it's new viewers. LUX is actually doing quite well for us. We're very proud of the show." So come on, Ostroff, tell us true: What are Life Unexpected's chances at renewal? "I would say it's got a real shot at this point." Whoo-hoo!

Now what about Melrose Place, which this time last year was imagined to be the network's next big smash hit, but which has struggled mightily in the ratings? Says Ostroff, "We hope Melrose Place picks up steam. We're gonna air all the episodes in a row. We've made the show a little bit lighter, a little happier, a little brighter, and I think we've made some good creative changes. We're going to see how the audience responds."

Translating from the ever-diplomatic language of network bosses, we'll take that to mean this: Barring a major ratings turnaround, the new Melrose is going the way of the dodo.

Casting directors, may we suggest you start making overtures to Katie Cassidy about pilots beginning, oh, now?

Though accoring to Buddy TV it would be an actress from Heroes, probably Hayden...

Who's the Mystery Actress in this 'Heroes' Blind Item?

Looking for new updates on Heroes hasn't exactly been a walk in the park these days especially since the NBC series already wrapped up its fourth (or possibly final) season. One blind item, however, caught my attention and though it doesn't really directly talk about any of the show's cast members, it does give away some clues that make me think otherwise.

The article, which comes from Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello, is about an unnamed "up-and-coming actress on a doomed hour drama" who was reportedly "the top choice to headline a much-buzzed-about pilot." Unfortunately, the series she's currently a part of, which according to Ausiello would take a miracle of biblical proportions to save the show, refuses to release the actress from her contract. "We could be back next season," they insist. As a result, the almost-leading lady didn't get the part.

At this point, I can only think of one actress: Hayden Panettiere. Though I really wouldn't consider the Heroes star an up-and-coming actress, Ausiello's description of the doomed hour drama instantly alludes to Heroes. And among all the cast members of the NBC series, Panettiere appears to be the only vital female cast member that needs to return, if and when Heroes gets a fifth season. Plus, coincidentally or not, Ausiello's blind item is entitled "Dying show buries actress' future" - another allusion to Panettiere's character Claire who got buried underground during the finale.

Still, I could be wrong. Is Hayden Panettiere the mystery actress? Or is this blind item about a completely different show? Let me know what you think in the comments below!
