So cool!!
Jane Balder To Guest Star On V
Actress Jane Badler has been cast as a recurring guest star on ABC’s V. Better known for her role in the original V series, Badler will play Diana, Anna’s (Morena Baccarin) mother, who is now the leader of the Vs. Badler will first appear in the Season 2 premiere of V.
Season 2 of V will feature more character and lizard reveals, more details about the Vs’ mythology – in which Badler will play an important role — and more action and more plot twists.
V stars Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Morris Chestnut as Ryan Nichols, Joel Gretsch as Father Jack, Charles Mesure as Kyle Hobbes, Logan Huffman as Tyler Evans, Laura Vandervoort as Lisa, with Morena Baccarin as Anna and Scott Wolf as Chad Decker.
If Diana is anything like her daughter, it can only mean one thing: Trouble! So what do you think of the casting? Any original V fans looking forward to seeing Jane Badler in the new version?
Badler Returns to V
Is this a good idea?
Jane Badler, who as the mwahaha villain in the original V pretty much exemplified how a franchise that started out as a sober exercise in sci-fi allegory soared over the top into a stratosphere of low-budget camp, has been lured back into the very serious 21st-century incarnation of the show as a recurring guest star.
Badler's sadistic character from the old show, Diana, is being established as the mother of Anna (Morena Baccarin), the new leader of the Visitors. Badler's role begins during the season two premiere.
The concept is a little brain-wrenching. Diana is inextricably associated with the 1980s Visitors invasion and war, depicted in the various miniseries and series of that time: but that invasion never happened, since the Visitors are only now openly appearing in 2009 (though they've infiltrated humanity for decades). So we have Diana, the villain from the first invasion, as the mother of Anna, the villain from this invasion. Did the old Diana have an alternate-universe baby? It's like Tasha Yar and Sela all over again.
The framework evidently has Anna imprisoning Diana on her ship--which actually has some promise. I can definitely see some delicious scenes of Morena Baccarin coldly lording it over Jane Badler, only to meet her filial comeuppance at the worst possible moment for the Visitors' plans.
ABC, meanwhile, promises that V, which was in a last-minute near-cancellation scare (FlashForward got the chop instead), will feature "more character and lizard reveals, more details about the Vs' mythology--in which Badler will play an important role--and more action and more plot twists. Viewers can expect a roller coaster ride week to week." So in other words, ABC says, we can look forward to more, more, more. How do you like it? How do you like it?
